Yaks had a lot of homework, plus a linear algebra class (how she understands that stuff, I will never understand), so we couldn't leave until she was done. And, as usual, we fought about where to go. Yaks wanted us to go to a "hole-in-the-wall," so she was insisting that we should look at a site called Sketch Dining. The name is...appropriate, to say the least. It kept talking about how all these restaurants had failed health code tests. Ming-Ming and I shot that idea down faster than William Hung got laughed off of American Idol.

So instead, we went to Little World Chinese Restaurant, at 1356 S State St . First impressions? Really bizarre service. We walked in a stood there for like three minutes with the servers just staring at us instead of seating us, so we couldn't figure out if we were supposed to seat ourselves and then get our order taken or order first at the counter and then sit down. We grabbed three takeout menus, sat down awkwardly at a table in the corner and kept glancing at the guy we assumed was the host, waiting for someone to tell us what we were supposed to do. Basically, we looked like we were really stupid.
Anyways, after a few minutes of this, the guy came over and asked if we wanted takeout or dine-in. Then we ordered beef lo mien, general tso's chicken, and fried wontons (oh, sorry, potstickers). Yaks got egg rolls too, and I got some wonton soup. Apparently, this place is supposed to be really authentic Chinese food. Supporting that, all the workers were Chinese (I think it's a family owned place, so that'd make sense). On the other hand, the food wasn't a flavored as "real" Chinese usually is.
The chicken ($8.95) was pretty sweet, and wasn't at all spicy even though it was marked with a pepper on the menu. It tasted similar to something from Panda Express. The beef lo mien ($9.95) had a great, flavorful sauce, but skimped a little on the beef. Yaks liked the (pork?) egg rolls ($5)), but there wasn't a ton of meat in them. The wontons ($4) were a really unusual flavor, and we couldn't really figure out what was in them, but they were delicious all the same!

We were going to leave, but as we walking in the parking lot back to Yaks' car, we saw this little place called Bakery Street right next door. It said it was a South American bakery, which we thought might be worth a try. Even though it was almost 9, it was still open, which is irregular for a bakery. There was something on a sign about them serving a Brazilian dinner platter, so that would explain the hours. We decided to investigate the place, and I am so glad we did! I am in love with meringues, and there was a huge bag of them for $3. I was so excited. For those of you have never had a meringue, it is a sweet ball of sugar that melts in your mouth. Yum! Yaks got something called a

Then, since I had my baked good of the day, I decided we had to go to a cafe and get tea - I'm a tea addict. I remembered this little place called Cafe Marmalade (361 North 300 West) that I'd been to a few times before. We got two teas to share ($2.50 for a large) and they were absolutely delicious. The teas are in huge jars on the counter and the barista makes the tea bag right there when you order. We smelled a bunch of the teas before getting a blood orange tea, which was a nice mix of sweet and a slightly bitter citrus, and an earl gray, which is my go-to tea that I have almost every day of my life. I'm a black tea fanatic. The cafe itself is a really interesting place. Along one of the walls is a giant bookshelf filled with hundreds of fiction and poetry books. The table we sat at had a board game cupboard next to it, but it was late and they were closing soon, so we didn't stay to play.
